Soil: A Key Foundation For Life On Earth

Dear FGASA member,
Just a reminder of our Gauteng Regional Talk by Pat McGee next Thursday  the 10th September 2015 starting at 19h00 at our Randburg office.
Soil is fundamental to life on earth and is the foundation of any ecosystem.  Based on its importance 2015 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Soil (IYS).  In this regard we are lucky to have Pat McGee speak to us on this interesting subject.
Pat graduated with a BSc (Soil Science) and then went on to do an MSc (Soil Science) from the University of Natal. After deciding that he wanted to move into the business world he completed a B.Comm which led to him heading up one of Sasol's divisions and also saw him serving some time on the Board of Sasol Chemical Industries.
After a leading corporate career Pat decided to retire to pursue his own interests, and in particular nature.  As result of this he undertook the process of studying through FGASA which led him to obtaining the Level 2 Field Guide and full lead Trails Guide qualifications. After deciding to further build on this, Pat completed the Wilderness Leadership School assessment process and today regularly undertakes trails and anti-Rhino poaching operations for them.
This going to be a really informative talk and for those of you working towards your level 2 qualification you will note that soil forms part of the curriculum.  We look forward to seeing you next week
